Hollywood has found itself a new queen of comedy and her name is Amy Schumer. Trainwreck is the funniest movie you will see this summer. As the writer and lead actress in this film, Amy Schumer breaks out onto the movie scene with a "tour de force" film.
This movie has quite a variety in its cast. Trainwreck features Hollywood "heavyweights" such as Academy Award winner Tilda Swinton (who portrays Amy's narcissistic boss, Dianna) and Brie Larson who plays Amy's "settled down" sister Kim. This film also features professional athletes such as John Cena and Lebron James. As you can see, this movie has different aspects from the world of entertainment coming together to create a quality film. Each member of the cast had their fair share of laughable quips and memorable moments.
My overall impression of Trainwreck was jarring yet sweet, offensive yet funny, and inappropriate yet tasteful. This film will leave you laughing hard and leave your stomach hurting at the end. Amy Schumer is here to stay and we can expect many more laughs to come if movies like Trainwreck keep coming our way.
My only complaint with this film was that Amy Schumer recycles punchlines from her standup routines a few times throughout the movie. If you are a hardcore Schumer fan (such as myself), you will be able to see it coming in the buildup lines and you might find it slightly predictable. Yet, I thoroughly enjoyed Trainwreck. It is one of the best films you'll see this summer.
